MTR Lab invested in six projects and incubated two firms last year after reviewing over 1,000 proposals.
The tech-focused subsidiary of MTR Corp (0066), which launched operations in 2022, invests and collaborates with partners to explore solutions in mobility, retail, property, financial and data services, smart city technology and sustainability.
The subsidiary, which has received HK$300 million in capital from its parent, aims to explore technological and innovative solutions that can benefit the long-term development of Hong Kong's metro system operator.
Managing director Michael Chan Ting-bond said the projects have generated "reasonable" financial returns.
The projects that MTR Lab has invested in include AMPD Energy, iSBIM and WeMaintain.
Carbon Wallet, one of the two platforms under MTR Lab, has garnered around 120,000 downloads and 40,000 registered users by encouraging users to decarbonize and recycle waste.
And Jove, a platform offering information on electric vehicle charging and smart parking, has built a network of over 20 partners and 300 clients in the property development, property management, education and car park management sectors.
